A soggy Sunday

I awoke to the sound of dripping rain. The forecast for today, and for the coming week, is soggy and soggier. Bom suggests that today will deliver 25 mm of rain, which actually is an improvement on the 35 mm it said a couple of days ago.

By the time I was ready to walk to Jonathon and Yu Rong's place, The rain had stopped but that did not stop me taking my raincoat with me and dawning my felt hat just in case.

I paused to admire some of the plants in their front yard, including a frangipani that is flowering way out of season.

After a leisurely coffee and some quiet time, Yu Rong elected to remain working on some projects and Jonathon and I headed for our pre-booked virtual reality experience - pyramid of Cheops.

It was my first experience of virtual reality. Really rather amazing.

Walking through furniture, the virtual guide and rock walls, to say nothing of stepping onto an apparently deep void took a little self talk.

Unsure of my balance at some of these times, I was grateful to have Jonathon's arm to hang on to, especially as I hadn't been permitted to take my walking pole in.

It was also amusing to notice the avatars of nearby patrons who were, presumably,  ducking or crawling into the tunnels.

Oh, and the historical information was great too.

Lunch in a Ramen restaurant provided me with a delicious selection of a bowl of miso soup, a superb dish of wakame salad and some lotus root chips that were a little oilier than totally desirable.

Ingredients for dinner were procured and Jonathon dropped me at my accommodation for a rest before dinner.

I rejoined Yu Rong and Jonathon shortly after 6:00 and spent some time admiring Yu Rong's sewing project for the afternoon. Then we enjoyed dinner of barbecued barramundi with perfectly selected pieces of barramundi along with some very yummy vegetables. The conversation turned to plants and what I may or may not be able to grow in Tasmania with AI informing us that tomatoes don't grow well in Tasmania. Jonathan argued back on that point and it conceded that some varieties did grow well.

The rain had well and truly set in again so Jonathon drove me the short distance back to my accommodation. It has been delightful to see them and spend some time with them and I look forward to doing it again in September.

I must admit, I am forever surprised at how long it takes to negotiate the traffic, the parking, etc. in Sydney.  I guess if I lived here I'd developed the acceptance and patience. But wow, it's seems to me that I'd rather live somewhere quieter.
